So, I’m adding a makeshift post, for Kristin’s sake, should anyone stumble upon her redirection to the Beit Sahour NGO I used to volunteer for — that is the International Middle East Media Center, or “IMEMC”. There is a bit of a disclaimer on one of our band sites. However, this blog is bound to last a little longer than those websites. So, I felt it pertinent to make a more or less official statement regarding my work for the group.
I was an online editor for the group, near daily, for seven years, beginning in 2013. I’m actually writing in APA by default, now, and it’s got me wanting to revamp these pages accordingly — but, in any case … I should make it clear that Kristin was never a part of the BDS movement. Neither of us were ever antisemitic in any way. This was neither our upbringing nor any subsequent ideology which may have come our way. My personal objective was to document the story … the “news narrative,” as it were. Neither of us have ever been to the Levant. We were both raised on Bible stories, and in the Winter of 2018, I believe, we discovered that we shared a personal favorite: “Joseph and the Coat of Many Colors”. In fact, with regard to my editing gig, Kristin hammered me a couple of times over my dedication to the blog. I think she just wanted me to become active in music, again, and I began to oblige. I was always very clear with her, in any case, about my personal convictions regarding this journalism. My news edits were very dry, in the old, “facts on the ground” style that I learned in high school. I had no interest whatsoever, in destroying the state of Israel. I wanted the Israeli people to flourish, in a state of peace and divine providence. However, the news I was getting was so disturbing that I wanted to take a closer look, and I signed on with the IMEMC.
In response to the video below, I would only say that during my formal training as a Sufi, I never encountered a shred of antisemitic indoctrination. We were simply “Ahl al-Kitāb”; People of the Book. Look it up.
When I ditched the gig, in the Summer of 2020, my home town of Minneapolis was burning. I was familiar with BLM from my news posts, yet have never subscribed to communism in any form — unless you count the mirage of so-called “progressive” American politics and the troupe of “alt news” media sock puppets which precedes it — but I haven’t even voted for president since the Republicans helped Bill Clinton to stay in power, back in the 90s. I slipped into my role as editor with the understanding that I may be involving myself with terrorism, so … I had my finger on the eject button the entire time, you could say. And, wouldn’t you know it, shortly after I bailed out, a number of NGO associates, that had been piggy-backing our ride, were busted for funneling donations to the PFLP.
The End.
